Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Coordinator Lab Distribution coordinates courier routes by scheduling and dispatching courier assignments to accommodate specified timeframes. Responds to phone requests for pickup and delivery of specimens, reports, and supplies. Serves as the liaison between the couriers and Lab Supervisors or Managers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates the operation of the courier services with the contract vendor and holds vendor accountable for compliance with the terms of the service agreement.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of all delivery manifests in laboratory and maintains for safe record keeping for lab compliance.
  • Responsible for the timely and efficient delivery of all orders.
  • Prepares customer orders for shipment, using all prescribed packaging methods to ensure integrity of the shipment.
  • Maintains stock items ordered by customers while meeting productivity, accuracy, and customer service goals.
  • Serves as orimary dispatcher for on-demand requests.
  • Communicates with couriers to meet the service demands required.
  • Communicates client concerns.
  • Coaches and trains new and existing couriers.
  • Administers laboratory protocol for drivers.
  • Works with outside courier service to determine if request can be incorporated on an existing route.
  • Supervises outside courier route schedules to improve efficiencies for existing and new laboratory accounts and reduce costs.
  • Reconciles all vendor invoices for laboratory courier charges and evaluates cost-saving opportunities.

5 years related work experience as a courier (preferred)

Experience with laboratory inventory, supply distribution, and/or laboratory specimen tracking (preferred)

Leadership experience in courier services (preferred)
