Job Description: Reporting to the Assistant Director for Academic Initiatives & Assessment the Coordinator for Academic Initiatives is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day academic support functions of the residential education program within the residence halls. In conjunction with the Assistant Director for Academic Initiatives & Assessment, the position assists in coordinating Academic and assessment Initiatives; collaborates with a wide variety of campus offices to provide academic support for the retention of on-campus students; addresses individual student and parent problems; and enforces policies, procedures, and regulations. This position also assists with coordination of retention outreach efforts in conjunction with the Student and Campus Life Retention Outreach team. This full-time live on position will also serve as a Conduct Educator and participate in the emergency response on-call duty rotation. Lastly, this position, in conjunction with the Assistant Director for Academic Initiatives & Assessment, assists with the planning and implementation of Residential Curriculum, as well as supporting assessment efforts pertaining to these areas as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in student personnel services, student development or related field. Or, a Bachelor's degree with work experience equivalent to a Master's degree in student personnel services, student development field is required.
  • Demonstrated competence in developing and implementing academic support services.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with residential curriculum.
  • Basic knowledge of assessment methods and processes.
  • Basic management skills including organization of workflow, managing multiple priorities delegation, hiring, training, motivation, and performance management.
  • Must communicate effectively both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff, university administrators and external constituencies including parents.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and a student-centered philosophy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to envision and implement change.
  • Basic experience in coordinating administrative functions and managing multiple priorities simultaneously within a complex organization is required.
  • Some experience in supervision, training, and academic initiatives, including academic support in residence halls, and/or academic intervention.
  • Basic experience collaborating with a variety of organizations on complex tasks and projects.
  • Some experience applying organizational, communication and supervisory skills within a comparable organization, not-for-profit or corporate setting.
