SUMMARY

Under general supervision, this individual is responsible for the operation of a neighborhood community recreation center and playground. The coordinator is in full charge of the center, subject to policies established by the Director, and directs its total operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan, supervise and direct recreational, athletic, art, craft, games, and other programs. Provide patrons with technical instruction and guidance in these various activities.

Inventory equipment.

Direct activities of assigned workers.

Maintain monthly playground and facility inspection checklist. Maintain order and discipline.

Attend monthly safety meetings

Initiate requests for recreation and athletic games and equipment and for maintenance and repair work as required.

Issue recreation and athletic equipment.

Schedule and supervise use of facilities by participant groups.

Maintain accurate time and work records and to submit various reports.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

At any given time, directly supervise ten or more employees in the recreation center including instructors, janitor, part-time staff, participants and volunteers. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
