Eckerd College is currently seeking candidates for the position of Coordinator, Campus Safety and Emergency Management at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community.
This position provides administrative and operational support to the Office of Campus Safety and the Eckerd College Emergency Response Team (ECERT). The role coordinates daily office operations, maintains records and databases, supports risk assessments and compliance activities, and assists with emergency management planning and training initiatives. The position also manages parking administration, evidence and property records, and supports campus inspections and safety programs. Working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff, the individual in this role helps promote campus safety and emergency preparedness.
This role requires the ability to develop and refine procedures, protocols, and response guidelines while exercising sound judgment to make timely, well-reasoned decisions based on careful, objective analysis of available information. The position also requires proficiency with applicable software and the ability to accurately prepare, type, and submit reports.

Key Responsibilities
Provides administrative support to the Office of Campus Safety and Eckerd College Emergency Response Team (ECERT), including scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings, handling data entry and document preparation, maintaining records and databases, and managing front desk operations as needed
Performs regular risk assessments across campus to identify potential risks.
Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies by conducting compliance audits and reviews.
Works collaboratively with other departments within the College to increase awareness, provide or facilitate regular training and exercise support to students, faculty, and staff as appropriate.
Provides escorts to campus inspections for local and state inspections.
Assists in creating, updating, and maintaining emergency management plans for various hazards, including natural disasters, man-made incidents, and public health emergencies.
Maintains records management systems in compliance with retention policies.
Coordinates with the Assistant Director of Campus Safety to ensure regular inspections of campus buildings, noting safety and security deficiencies.
Oversees the parking management program, including processing vehicle registrations and citations, coordinating billing and serves as the chair of the Parking Appeals Committee.
Manages evidence control and property management processes to ensure accurate documentation, secure storage, and proper release of items.
Assists with front desk coverage and responds to calls for service as needed.
Provides backup coverage for the front gate, ensuring continuous campus access control, visitor assistance, and security procedures.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency required (Associate's degree preferred); minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Must have a Florida Class D Security license or be able to obtain one within 90 days.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Possess a current and valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator's Class D License and be able to obtain vehicle insurance.
Must have completed FEMA IS 100C and IS 700B courses or be able to complete within 90 days.
Must be able to pass and maintain Basic First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.
