Summary of Position
Plans, develops, and delivers a year-round program of academic support and enrichment for ninth through twelfth grade at-risk students enrolled at Warren G. Harding High School. Provides mentorship and monitors academic performance of students who matriculate to YSU. Ensures the daily function of operations and services related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Works under general supervision and may make some work procedural decisions which do not contravene policies; generally, determines work sequences (which task comes first) within any department/divisional guidelines.
Position Information
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Recruits and monitors participants for Academic Achievers program.
Develops and delivers a summer residential program for students including development of all social, recreational, and cultural enrichment activities; coordinates with university constituents for collaborative activities; schedules and supervises living facilities and meals.
Develops and supervises year-round activities for participants including weekly after-school tutoring, Saturday enrichment programs, ACT preparation, college readiness workshops, and cultural enrichment programs. Works with matriculated college students to support their academic progress and alignment with scholarship requirements.
Collaborates with university constituents on programming and events that mutually benefit student experiences and enhance educational enrichment.
Recruits, selects, supervises, and evaluates all student and professional educational staff for both year-round program and summer residential program.
Collaborates extensively with high school administration and faculty to promote the program to the student body, ensures appropriate selection of students and enhances the programs ability to support the high school curriculum.
Meets bi-monthly with each matriculated student to monitor academic performance in order to maintain scholarship eligibility, making referrals to academic and social support services as needed.
Makes recommendations for continuation of Resch Foundation scholarships for each matriculated YSU student.
Monitors scholarship expenditures versus future need, adjusts recruitment of students in the high school program to ensure scholarships do not exceed allotted yearly amount.
Proposes budget and monitors expenditures throughout the year.
Coordinates daily tasks related to one or more assigned components of overall programs and/or services as assigned.
Regularly communicates with supervisor and other "Experiential Learning and Engagement" staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of overall goals and objectives.
Prepares and maintains accurate records of daily tasks in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate.
Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for supervisory review?related to programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components.
Prepares for and attends events.
Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays as assigned.

Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over continuing education employees and student employees.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree; and training in developmental education, secondary and/or higher education student services.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. Training or experience working in social work and/or early adult education. Social work licensure.
Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.
Sedentary: work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria aremet.
