The Department of Economics, College of Arts and Sciences, is looking for a highly motivated and self-directed individual to be part of the Department. The Graduate Program & Student Advisor is the primary point of contact and support for Department of Economics graduate students at both the MA and PhD levels. This position works closely with the Chair, Department Administrator, and Graduate Director and assists with the daily programmatic and administrative support, along with retention and recruitment of the graduate program. This position is the first point of contact for prospective graduate students and guides enrolled students through the academic program to complete their graduate degree.
This includes, but is not limited to, implementing administrative internal policies and procedures that support graduate student processes, including knowledge of contracts, forms, and systems used for navigating student questions and issues. The advisor assists faculty and students in submitting the necessary forms related to making progress toward their degree. The advisor assists with organizing graduate student-focused events, such as graduate seminars, department commencement, and other economics-related workshops.
This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate as a member of a small team while serving a wide range of internal and external constituents.
