Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Coordinator assists with oversight of the day to day operations of the department and performs the duties of a registered pharmacist .The primary responsibility of the pharmacy coordinator is to develop and maintain pharmaceutical care based programs and technologies for the purpose of achieving optimal outcomes with a special emphasis placed on leadership in their assigned functional area of responsibility (Operations, Clinical, Compounding, Education & Training, Technology, or Diversion). They will assist in the achievement of the department commitment to be innovative, proactive, and accountable for quality patient outcomes by optimizing medication use across the continuum of care.

Job Description:

  • Provides operations and clinical staffing as time permits (up to 20 hours per week). Maintains familiarity with all departmental programs and technologies, and works as an integral part of the pharmacy team.
  • Has the primary responsibility for assigned areas of oversight. Works with the pharmacy leadership team to implement medication management decisions.
  • Develops communications, in-services and education on relevant topics.
  • Provides leadership and serves as a role model and resource person for pharmacy staff.
  • Leads, analyzes, and appraises pharmacy services provided to patients, physicians and ancillary departments within the Network.
  • Actively participates in the ongoing monitoring of standard workflow procedures for the department.
  • Oversees and evaluates ongoing reporting and analysis of existing projects and new initiatives of the pharmacy department .
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison to Nursing and the Medical Staff and works directly with these groups to meet the needs of the department and the hospital.
  • Serves as a resource for pharmacy services support at all sites.
  • Participates on multidisciplinary committees at the discretion of manager.
  • Customer Service/Patient Experience: Obtain and prioritize the voice of the customer in the design and implementation of pharmacy services.
  • Assist in achievement of the department commitment to be innovative, proactive, and accountable for quality patient outcomes by optimizing medication use across the continuum of care.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and other healthcare team members with attention to the needs of all staff.
  • Coordinates professional growth and development of pharmacists through educational programs, in-services, mentoring, and testing. 
  • Assures competency through education, coaching, auditing and testing
  • Coordinates efforts with other St. Elizabeth Healthcare facilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Graduate from ACPE accredited pharmacy college
  • Licensed (or eligible) as a Pharmacist in state of practice as applicable.

Specialized Knowledge: 

Superior problem solving and critical thinking skills Superior customer service and communication skills Familiar with Current Practice Standards Competencies required of a Pharmacist

Kind and Length of Experience: 

Two years inpatient hospital experience
