Make a Difference at the End of Life: Cook at McClure Miller Respite House

 

Want to be a part of providing comfort to residents and their families at the end of life and feel a strong sense of meaning and purpose by providing home cooked meals? Join our team!

You will oversee the menu planning, food ordering and the sanitary conditions of the kitchen and work amongst a dedicated and collaborative team at the McClure Miller Respite House.

-Every other weekend 8a-6:30p with 30 minute unpaid lunch and then 3 mornings one week 7:30-11:30a and 4 mornings the other week 7:30a-11:30am

Shift Differentials:

Evenings: Mon-Fri (3:00pm -11:00pm) - $2.00

Nights: Mon-Thurs & Sun (11:00pm - 7:30am) - $3.10

Weekend Day: Sat & Sun (7:00am - 3:00pm) - $3.10

Weekend Evening: Sat & Sun (3:00pm-11:00pm) - $4.40

Weekend Night: Fri & Sat (11:00pm-7:00am) - $5.20

 

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare 3 daily meals, desserts, snacks, etc., for residents of UVM McClure Miller Respite House: Plan nutritious menus, prepare meals, assist with clean-up, etc.

  • Maintain an inventory of stock items for the kitchen as well as other household items. Generate shopping lists for volunteer shoppers

  • Maintain and organize the sanitary conditions of the kitchen. Ensure proper food preparation and storage, as well as maintain the cooking environment

  • Other duties as requested by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.

  • Minimum one to two years’ experience in the food service industry; or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

  • Comfort with the physical, emotional and psychological needs of individuals who are dying as well as of their family and/or a clear interest in training in this field.
