KINGSBURG ELEMENTARY CHARTER SCHOOL DISTRICT COOK II (classified position) Primary Function: Prepares and bakes breads, cookies, cakes, and all other desserts, salads, sandwiches and other foods. Directly Responsible to: Cook III (under the general supervision of the Cafeteria Supervisor). Assigned Responsibilities: • Prepare desserts, salads, sandwiches and other foods as designated by the Cook III. • Prepare meats for the week's menu. • Prepare vegetables, rice, and all other hot foods for the day's menu. • Cut bread, desserts, etc., in correct sizes for portion control. • Assist the Cook III with the main entrée. • Operate all mechanical appliances and equipment found in the kitchen. • Help in the training of substitutes and other kitchen employees. • Supervise student helpers and subordinate kitchen personnel as per the Cook III's instructions. • Help with the preparation of food for banquets and dinners outside of regular work hours and work days. • Serve as a substitute in the Cook III's absence. • Employ proper sanitary methods of preparing, cooking, serving, and storing foods. • Help with the general cleaning and sanitization of the kitchen and equipment. • Perform a yearly equipment inventory and assist in the monthly food and supplies inventory. • Help serve hot lunch to pupils and teachers. • Perform all duties of subordinates. • Perform related duties pertaining to the job as delegated by the immediate supervisor. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • Minimum of one (1) year experience in food preparation and general kitchen maintenance as an assistant cook or equivalent position • ServSaf certification or pursuing certification • Basic understanding of food preparation including, but not limited to, salads, sandwiches, and desserts • Ability to prepare, cook, or bake any food item as designated by the Cook III • Working knowledge and basic understanding of the care and use of utensils, ca
