PRIMARY PURPOSE

As a Cook Helper, you will be responsible for being knowledgeable of food products.

POSITION

Hourly, Full-Time Location: Gold Strike Casino

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent. • Six (6) months of experience in basic food preparation. • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to apply basic knife skills for preparation. • Maintain a solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation. • Communicate with management, chef, and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and employees. • Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations. • Able to take initiative and exhibit flexibility. • Highly motivated and energetic personality. • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This role includes frequent standing and bending. • Constant walking, reaching, balancing, and grasping items in a food preparation area. • It also includes lifting carrying and pushing up to 50 lbs. • This position may require strenuous physical activities and exposure to pipe, cigar, and/or cigarette smoking. • An ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure requisitions are processed properly and placed in the designated area. • Maintain solid knowledge of food products. • Identify and safely use kitchen equipment. • Regularly run for food and restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service. • Properly label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation. • Assist the pantry worker, cook, master cook, and chef as needed in the execution of service. • Work as a team and assist guests and employees with their needs and inquiries. • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
