**Job Title: Cook**

**Job Description:** 

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook to join our dietary team. The Cook completes duties as assigned to provide accurate, timely food service to meet the resident's needs in compliance with federal & state regulations and corporate guidelines ensuring that each dish meets our high standards of quality and presentation.

**Key Responsibilities: *

 - Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for the residents. 

- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure the smooth operation of food service.

- Present a professional image & exhibit a manner that is cordial and respectful.
- Communicate and maintain positive relationships with employees, residents, and family members.  

-Use integrity, good judgement, and critical thinking skills in making decisions.

-Compile and maintain accurate reporting as required/requested

-Maintain overall kitchen sanitation

-Prepare and serve nourishing, delicious, and attractive meals to the residents

-Reviews food menus and food requisitions to determine type and quantity of food to be prepared

-Completes and follows daily production & waste logs

-Stores, labels, and dates all food items according to policy

-Prepare and cook to order foods that may require a short preparation time

-Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other food items for residents, community events, and staff appreciation events

-Prepare food under direct supervision or instructions by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure & mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding fruits & vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry, and/or fish for culinary use

-Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment following regulatory rules and procedures

- Adapt to dietary restrictions and special requests from guests as needed.
- Work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. 

- Contribute to menu development and suggest creative ideas for new dishes.

-Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food and supplies as instructed

-Follow all health & safety policies and procedures

-Report to work on-time and ready for the workday 

-Attend/complete required in-services and other mandatory trainings and meetings

-Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications:**

- Previous experience in a Food Service, Healthcare Dining Services, and/ or other related fields.
-Required to obtain/maintain current ServSafe certification.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
