A day in this role

Based on-site in Richmond, Illinois, you’ll be part of our specialty trackwork production team. After completing hands-on training on 1st shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm), you’ll transition to our 2nd shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:00pm–1:30am). You’ll set up and operate conventional milling equipment, move parts with a crane, verify dimensions with precision measuring tools, and keep concise quality documentation—supporting a smooth, safe, and efficient workflow.

What you’ll handle

  • Set up and operate manual milling machines; make offset and tooling adjustments as needed
  • Keep your station orderly and well-organized
  • Assemble milling cutters on holders and index inserts
  • Load and unload workpieces with an overhead crane
  • Partner with support personnel on programming, tooling, or machine concerns
  • Complete all required quality records and documentation
  • Bring a positive, collaborative approach to the shop floor
  • Use gauges and measuring devices to confirm parts meet drawings and specifications

What you bring

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of machining experience
  • Solid knowledge of feeds, speeds, and chip load
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
  • Ability to work on-site in Richmond, Illinois

Bonus points

  • Familiarity with FANUC CNC controls
  • Background in industrial milling
