    ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

    The Controls Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated machinery and PLC-controlled systems. This role supports production reliability by diagnosing issues, maintaining control systems, and assisting in continuous improvement efforts across automation platforms

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, including diagnosing issues in ladder logic and I/O systems

    • Modify and maintain existing PLC programs

    • Analyze equipment performance data to identify inefficiencies and support corrective actions

    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic equipment down to the component level

    • Support and maintain Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and basic automation systems

    • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and PLC logic diagrams to troubleshoot and repair equipment

    • Perform preventive maintenance on electro-mechanical and automated systems

    • Use diagnostic tools and instrumentation to test and verify equipment performance

    • Assist in installation, startup, and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment

    • Document maintenance activities, system changes, and machine safety data accurately through CMMS system

    • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to implement equipment improvements

    • Maintain basic documentation of PLC programs and system configurations

    • Perform other duties as assigned

    ESSENTIAL/SKILLS NEEDED:

    • Demonstrated strong electrical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of 3-phase motor controls and industrial power systems
    • Ability to independently troubleshoot electrical and automated systems with minimal supervision
    • Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and basic PLC logic
    • Skilled in troubleshooting and configuring Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), including parameter adjustments
    • Ability to troubleshoot machinery controlled by PLC systems, including identifying faults within I/O, sensors, and control components
    • Working knowledge of PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley) with the ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and make minor program modifications
    • Ability to diagnose and repair control system sensors, including proximity switches, photo eyes, transducers, thermal probes, and limit switches
    • Familiarity with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and basic operator interface troubleshooting
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze equipment performance and implement corrective actions
    • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate within the maintenance team and with internal customers
    • Willingness to work cross-functionally with mechanics and others to support overall equipment reliability
    • Ability to gather, interpret, and communicate technical information clearly and effectively
    • English comprehension including speaking, reading, and writing is required for our business's necessity to ensure a safe and effective work environment.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Able to provide/possess accredited industrial electrical certification or electrical license.
    • Requires four (4) years of related maintenance experience or an associate degree in electromechanical technology.
    • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
    • PLC troubleshooting experience required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Will be required to stand for an entire shift.
    • Requires walking frequently.
    • May require the employee to infrequently lift and/or carry objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
    • Requires frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting close to the body.
    • Requires bending, twisting, stooping, and squatting.
    • May be required to work at heights while on Boom or Scissor Lift.
    • Must be able to work in various indoor temperatures including elevated heat and humidity.
    • Exposure to elevated noise levels that occur below OSHA thresholds.
    • Infrequent exposure to machine sanitation solutions and detergents.
    • Requires frequent visual quality control observations which may include turning and bending of the neck and head area.
    • Exposure to various odors throughout a work shift.
    • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment [PPE]
    • Required to follow Good Manufacturing Practices [GMPs]
    • Exposure to food allergens such as, but not limited to, milk eggs, tree nuts, wheat, and soybeans will occur.
