Controls Service Engineer

Position Summary:

The Controls Service Engineer is responsible for upgrades, maintains, and retrofit automated systems (robotics, PLC’s, AC/DC Drives, Servo systems, machinery and interconnected devices) at customer sites, requiring strong electrical/mechanical/software skills, frequent travel, and direct client interaction to ensure peak performance, minimize downtime, and provide training, often involving troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and documenting all service activities.

Job Duties:

- Installation & Commissioning: Set up, configure, test, and commission new automated equipment at client locations.

- Maintenance & Repair: Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on mechanical, electrical, and software components.

- Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex issues in automated systems, including robotics, control systems, and peripherals, offering on-site and remote support.

- Customer Support & Training: Train customers on system operation, provide technical guidance, and build strong relationships to ensure satisfaction.

- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of service calls, repairs, maintenance, and parts used.

- System Optimization: Recommend upgrades, improvements, and updates to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

- Business Development: Identify opportunities for service sales, upgrades, and new solutions to support business growth.

- Experience with an oscilloscope, PLC, and basic hand tools to perform job activities including troubleshooting desired.

What you need to be successful:

- Associates degree in Electronics Engineering, Electronics Technology, or applicable military experience.

- Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, robotic, HMI, AC/DC VFD, Servo systems and PLC/software troubleshooting.

- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively

- Valid U.S. Passport or the ability to obtain one.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in induction heating and melting equipment an asset.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and CRM systems.
