Job Title: Controls Manager

Experience: 5-10 Years (minimum 2 years in a automotive)

Location: Auburn Hills, MI

Position Overview

The Controls Manager will support global planning, execution, and coordination of programs related to Controls and Software (SW) platform solutions. This role will serve as a key interface between Controls Systems and the Propulsion Systems community, ensuring alignment of controls features, rollout plans, and development activities across programs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide feasibility assessments and cost evaluations for Controls and Software solutions across vehicle programs.

Act as the primary interface representing Controls Systems (controllers and software) within the Propulsion Systems community.

Coordinate the development of Controls Features across programs and engineering teams.

Define feature rollout plans that align with program milestones, deliverables, and strategic objectives.

Support change management, quality assessment, and risk mitigation activities for Controls and Software.

Lead and mentor a team of controls engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.

Ensure rigorous validation of control functions to meet or exceed technical and regulatory requirements throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to advance cutting-edge controls technologies.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives in controls engineering processes, methodologies, and toolchains.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex systems, delivering high-quality technical solutions.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in the automotive industry.

Ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment.

Previous experience as a Controls or Software developer (MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, Embedded C), or experience as a testing or calibration engineer is a plus.

Strong ownership mindset, proactive attitude, and accountability for deliverables.

Familiarity with software development tools, debugging techniques, and model-based development processes.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in team-oriented environments.

Strong problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.
