Controls Integration Field Support Specialist
Join a team that turns complex control systems into reliable, running assets. You’ll be on the front lines of commissioning and troubleshooting, partnering with Integration Engineers to deliver safe startups, clear documentation, and satisfied customers. You’ll represent CLX Engineering in the field, often independently, and always with a commitment to safety and clear communication.

Your expertise in electrical diagnostics across I/O and PLC platforms keeps plants productive. You’ll interface with PLCs to test and verify functionality—without modifying or editing PLC programs—helping customers resolve issues quickly in high-stakes moments.
Core responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electrical control circuits, sensors, and actuators; verify PLC inputs/outputs and field devices.
- Support safe operation around PLC-controlled equipment and energized systems.
- Engage professionally with both external customers and internal stakeholders, maintaining composure in urgent situations.
- Travel to customer sites for commissioning and service; take on extended onsite rotations (up to six months or more) followed by scheduled time off at home.
- Work non-standard hours, including nights and weekends, to align with production schedules and outage windows.
- Maintain a clean driving record to meet travel and access requirements.
- Adapt to evolving project scopes and assist with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or AS degree (or comparable applied experience).
- Minimum 2 years of electrical field experience.
- Excellent communicator who stays steady under pressure.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting proficiency with I/O and PLC-based systems; able to interface for diagnostics without changing code.
- Comfortable with common hand tools; professional appearance and conduct.
Preferred
- AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with PLC environments such as Studio/Logix 5000 or similar (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
Work style and travel
- Local travel on short notice; non-local travel with notice (up to 35%–50% on occasion).
- Willingness to work night shifts and other non-standard schedules as project timing dictates, including during slow periods.
