Job Title: Controls Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Controls Engineer to support automation projects from concept through commissioning. This particular project involves working with a major system integration partner in Spartanburg, SC.

  • You will be developing Allen Bradley PLC programs for automated manufacturing systems and engage in various project phases including programming, testing, and commissioning.

This opportunity has a strong likelihood of extension or placement on future projects with a controls contracting company based out of the Midwest.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Allen Bradley PLC programs from scratch for automated manufacturing systems
  • Support offline programming and system development activities
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Troubleshoot and optimize automation systems during startup and commissioning
  • Collaborate with controls, robotics, and integration teams throughout project execution
  • Assist with equipment installation and on-site startup activities as needed
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and meet customer requirements

Essential Skills

  • Experience programming Allen-Bradley PLCs from scratch
  • Ability to troubleshoot and support industrial automation systems
  • Experience supporting machine commissioning and startup activities onsite with customer
  • Strong understanding of industrial controls and system integration
  • Ability to work on-site in Spartanburg, SC for 6+ months

"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with/in an integrator.
  • Offline programming, FAT, SAT, and Install experience.
  • Experience with Rockwell Software - Studio 5000.
  • Familiarity with AI Vision systems like Fizyr.
  • Karel programming experience.
  • Experience with robotics, particularly Fanuc robots.

Work Environment

The position requires onsite work at a facility in Spartanburg, SC.

Expect to work 45-55 hours during offline programming, FAT, and SAT, with the potential for 60+ hours during installations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Spartanburg, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
