Controls Engineer

Join our dynamic team in Orlando, FL, a vibrant city known for its world-class entertainment and thriving tech industry. We are seeking a skilled professional to take on electrical/controls engineering for large-scale projects. This role involves designing control systems from scratch, including hardware, software, and network components, as well as electrical panel design, power calculations, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Design control systems from concept to completion, tailoring components to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with various project disciplines to integrate systems effectively.
- Optimize panel locations to enhance system efficiency and minimize voltage drop.
- Oversee vendor scope, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance with contract requirements.
- Design complex motion systems and integrate automated systems.
- Conduct system design calculations and analyses, including short circuit protection and noise reduction.
- Develop and troubleshoot code using Ladder Logic, C, Visual Basic, and Structured Text.
- Implement DCS/PLC control systems to meet process requirements.
- Create detailed documentation of control and software configurations.
- Perform analyses on processor loading, scan times, and network delays.
- Design efficient code to facilitate future modifications and client understanding.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot control system issues to determine root causes.
- Assist with system start-up, debugging, and documentation development.
- Work on automation and control system integration projects within the entertainment and manufacturing industries.
- Act as a technical lead, guiding lower-level engineers, technicians, and contractors.
Requirements:
- BS in Electrical Engineering.
- 5 years' experience in Controls/Automation Engineering.
- Strong organizational skills and technical competence.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in a multi-disciplined environment with engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Knowledge of ASTM standards, safety engineering, and logic programming.
- Preferred experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens hardware/software.
- Familiarity with ethernet-based distributed remote I/O systems.
- Understanding of contract documents and specifications.
- Willingness to travel 10-30% of the time.
- Availability to work off-shifts during installation/commissioning.
