Brief Description The Controls Engineer will be responsible for driving and giving solutions for the technical execution of the plant's technology such as providing support on electrical distribution systems, controls upgrades, start of equipment, automation documentation, and troubleshooting controls.Not eligible for work sponsorshipACTUAL WAGE WILL BE BASED ON RELATED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE; MINIMUM STARTING POSTED.Responsibilities Manage strategic, technical projects and tasks in an extremely fast-paced environmentSupport the implementation of new projects by configuring control modules and HMI graphicsContinuously improve process control systems through Advanced Process Control, Alarm Management, and Operator Interface OptimizationAccountable for integration of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and process controlsAccountable for training of end users on the operations of newly installed or modified process control systemsResponsible for the standardization of control systems and control logic designs, documentation of operation procedures and as-built drawings and logicServe as plant liaison for new system start-up and commissioning by all outside controls contractors and system integrators to ensure proper transfer of documented PLC program changes and adequate training on the installation/changes that have been completedDevelop, troubleshoot, improve, and maintain automation documentation (schematics, functional descriptions, PLC programs, SCADAs, etc.)Processing Automation troubleshootingManage Automation improvement projectsMentor/train Instrumentation & Controls TechniciansOther duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.Requirements Skills and Abilities Ability to understand, modify and upgrade PLC logic (Rockwell platform preferred, Siemens a plus), VFD's, network switchesAbility to update P&ID's, electrical/mechanical prints (AutoCad preferred)Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and proceduresStrong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse communityAbility to analyze and assess training and development needsAble to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints to conduct business.Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environmentAttendance is an essential function of the positionMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishEducation And Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Technology preferred, or a combination of related education and experience required7+ years of manufacturing automation experience requiredAdditional training as an industrial automation technician preferredPhysical Requirements And Working Conditions Contacts involve giving or exchanging information of a limited controversial nature.Regularly – Communicates via phone, email, in person and video; required to sit, perform keyboard work, for prolonged periods of time; operates a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine and printer.Frequently – Talk and hear to coordinate day-to-day phone and in person transactions.Occasionally – Lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Standard office environment.
