This role plays a vital part in designing, programming, and maintaining automated control systems. You'll work hands‑on with PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and control panels to ensure smooth and efficient plant performance as we grow and scale our Tennessee operations.ResponsibilitiesDesign, program, build, and troubleshoot control systems including PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, sensors, and drivesConduct system integration, testing, and debugging to ensure functionality and reliabilityDevelop, modify, and maintain control system documentationPerform troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment and facility electrical systemsEnsure that projects are planned and executed in a timely and efficient manner and routinely report progressPrepare technical manuals, work instructions, training materials, and troubleshooting guides required to support production activitiesSupport Preventative Maintenance Planning and Coordination by ensuring all PM plans and tasks are in place to ensure effective maintenanceEnsure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulationsOther duties as assignedQualifications7+ years proven experience in a Controls Engineering or related roleMinimum of Associate's Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field requiredDemonstrated ability to write and troubleshoot PLC code and HMI programmingAbility to create systems designs and documentation in addition to maintaining systems developed by othersAbility to design and build control panels/systemsStrong analytical skills and ability to solve problems and communicate effectively with little guidanceProficient in computer skills in Word and Excel, and CADExcellent oral and written communication skillsWorks well in a team environmentSortera Technologies, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
