We are seeking a Controls Engineer in Denver, CO, to support the design, implementation, and project management of large-scale automation projects, primarily in the oil & gas industry, with additional exposure to life sciences and building automation. This role requires strong experience with Rockwell control systems (preferably PlantPAx), safety instrumented systems, and a proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget while collaborating across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement Rockwell-based control systems for capital projects
- Lead system architecture, control strategies, and class-based design for scalability
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources
- Develop electrical designs (power distribution, panels, grounding) and specify instrumentation
- Design industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, etc.) and integrate third-party systems
- Define computing infrastructure (servers, virtualization, cybersecurity, redundancy)
- Lead FAT/SAT execution and ensure regulatory compliance
- Support advanced automation strategies, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
- Travel up to 50% for commissioning and client support
Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of experience in automation and control systems (oil & gas preferred)
- Strong background with Rockwell Automation; experience with DCS/SCADA systems is a plus
- Expertise in industrial protocols, networking, and system integration
- Experience with electrical design (MCCs, VFDs, control panels) and server infrastructure
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
