    Job Responsibilities:

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

    1) Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.

    2) Understand and promote Magna's philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee's Charter).

    3) Update, modify, and continuously improve existing controls systems including robotic programs, ladder logic programs, relay logic, electrical distribution, motor controls, operator interface, hydraulics, and pneumatics distribution and control

    4) Design and develop new machine controls including robotic, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and vision systems

    5) Coordinate with engineering and maintenance on existing machine control modifications to robotic, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and vision systems

    6) Create, maintain and keep all electronic data bases: all electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics; panel layouts; PLC, operator display, operator interface, and robot programs; machine power distribution and all related vendor controls component part documentation

    7) Schedule and complete backups of all electronic machine control and robotic programs on set schedule

    8) Implement and maintain data collection system from shop floor processing equipment

    9) Maintain and expand existing plant floor machine control to Ethernet gateways, links and connections

    10) Maintain all sub machine control data highways

    11) Maintain and update controls portion of machine standards

    12) Handle confidential information on a regular basis

    13) Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example

    14) Promote and facilitate Open Door process, effective communication and Fair Treatment

    15) Participate in Continual Improvement activities

    16) Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies

    17) Promotes good housekeeping (5S)

    18) Perform other duties as required.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    SKILL (Ability to do the job)

    • Use of Siemens Simatic Manager to Tia 16, Siemens PLC, Drives, Touch panels, and Fanuc Robots

    • Design and use relay logic, ladder logic, pneumatic logic and hydraulic logic

    • Use of RS232, RS422, DH485, Ethernet, DH+, Device Net, Control Net and remote I/O communications protocol

    • Ability to work well with a group or team & to build and maintain positive Team Member

    relations

    • Prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures and guidelines

    • Effectively present information and respond to questions from management, Team Members, suppliers and customers

    • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics to help troubleshoot issues

    • Maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact

    • Manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines

    • Work flexible hours to be available for three shifts

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 50 pounds, standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time, and occasional stooping and bending.

    EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED

    Some of the equipment and tools used for the job are a computer, telephone,

    Copier / printer, PLC, network connections, and basic tools required in aluminum die casting.

    KNOWLEDGE

    EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, i.e. Electrical Engineering, etc., or equivalent experience and education

    TECHNICAL TRAINING: Electrical Controls Engineering background desired, Experience with Siemens Processors, and Fanuc Robots

    OTHER: MS-Office - computer navigation knowledge
