Controller

Full-Time | Construction Industry

Overview

A large-site development contractor is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and support the financial performance of the company and its affiliates.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining accurate financials, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and providing insight to support strategic decisions. The right candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, leadership experience, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions, including AP, AR, and payroll
  • Oversee job costing, AIA billing, subcontract tracking, and WIP reporting
  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements across multiple entities
  • Monitor and manage weekly cash flow
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state tax filings (1099s, sales and use tax, etc.)
  • Coordinate with external accountants and advisors
  • Oversee insurance programs, including renewals and certificates of insurance
  • Serve as a key contact for vendors, customers, IT providers, and insurance carriers
  • Develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff

Qualifications

  • Active CPA required, with prior public accounting experience
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
