The Purpose of Your Role
The Controller will lead the accounting and financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight. You will manage the financial health of the company through effective oversight of reporting, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
Key Performance Indicators and Reporting
Financial Reporting
Deliver 100% of monthly and quarterly financial statements on time with excellent accuracy.
Complete month-end close processes within 7 business days, ensuring timely reporting.
Develop reporting packages with commentary for senior management, operating management, and corporate department heads.
Identify and include the appropriate industry and company specific KPIs with each monthly reporting package (MRP).
Cash Flow Management
Maintain cash flow forecasting, gathering inputs from other team members. Provide weekly updates to senior management with commentary.
Monitor and optimize cash flow and coordinate with the Billing Group to obtain reliable receipts forecasts.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Develop annual budgets with 95% accuracy in forecasting versus actual performance.
Provide monthly variance analysis and actionable recommendations as part of the monthly reporting packages.
Compliance and Audits
Ensure full compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
Achieve a zero-error rate during internal and external audits.
Process Improvement
Implement at least 2 financial process improvements annually, reducing manual effort by 15%.
Oversee automation projects to streamline financial workflows, increasing efficiency by 10% annually.
Team Leadership
Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment in order to promote retention and employee satisfaction.
Ensure 100% participation in professional development programs for all team members.
Upon achieving these key performance indicators, your supervisor will meet with you to review progress and collaborate on establishing new performance goals that reflect continued growth and excellence.
The Skills and Expertise You Have
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA required.
Experience
7+ years of accounting or financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Demonstrated success in managing financial operations in a mid-to-large organization.
Supervisory requirements
Technical Skills
Proficiency in ERP and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite).
Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
Proficient knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer software
Accurate and efficient electronic data entry
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and leadership skills for managing teams and presenting financial data to stakeholders.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Must be punctual and maintain excellent attendance
Organized, detail-oriented, takes the initiative, and completes job responsibilities independently
