The Role
We are seeking an exceptionally hands-on Corporate Controller to step in as our first dedicated accounting hire. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, you will completely own the day-to-day global accounting function while actively executing the close, reporting, tax strategy, and compliance.
This is not a traditional oversight or "people maintenance" seat. This is an entrepreneurial, in-the-weeds role where you will architect modern, automated systems from scratch to eliminate manual workflows. Your instinct should be to leverage technology and automated software platforms to solve operational bottlenecks rather than scaling headcount.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute the Financial Close: Own the end-to-end monthly close process completely hands-on, ensuring speed and absolute accuracy while removing manual steps.
  • Multi-Entity Consolidation: Manage day-to-day accounting operations across multiple legal entities (currently running 2 entities), executing intercompany transactions, transfer pricing adjustments, and monthly consolidations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare internal financial statements, management reporting packages, and materials for board presentations.
  • System Architecture: Implement, integrate, and optimize modern financial infrastructure and tech-forward ERP tools to eliminate operational friction.
  • Technical Accounting & SaaS Compliance: Serve as the internal subject matter expert on complex treatments including ASC 606 (revenue recognition) and ASC 718 (stock-based compensation).
  • Tax & Compliance: Manage corporate tax requirements, state and international registrations, and global compliance. Coordinate directly with external tax advisors on corporate filings.
  • Audit Ownership: Manage the annual financial audit relationship and process from end to end.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Go-To-Market (GTM), Legal, HR, and Operations teams on contract reviews, equity administration, and expense policies.

Qualifications
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a solid background navigating the small-to-mid-size SaaS or technology ecosystem.
  • Startup Pedigree: Proven experience operating effectively within a lean, early-stage, or venture-backed startup environment—ideally as a foundational accounting hire.
  • Hands-On Execution: Demonstrated passion for rolling up your sleeves to tackle daily operational accounting tasks rather than delegating them to a large team.
  • Global Exposure: Direct comfort or experience managing multi-national corporate structures and international subsidiaries.
  • Credentials: CPA license or foundational Big 4 public accounting audit experience is a strong nice-to-have, but not a strict dealbreaker.
  • Presence: Ability to work in-person from our New York City office 3 days per week.

Preferred experience:
  • Bias for Action: A self-starter who takes complete ownership, diagnoses inefficiencies, and builds scalable solutions.
  • Systems-First Mindset: A professional who prioritizes building automated infrastructure over expanding operational headcount.
