Job Details

The Construction Financial Controller will oversee financial operations, construction accounting systems, payroll oversight, job costing, and financial reporting for a growing luxury residential construction organization. This full-time, in-office leadership role is based in Austin, Texas and supports multiple company entities and operational locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations across multiple entities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Manage budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure financial compliance
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, insurance providers, and tax professionals
  • Oversee project-based accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and construction financial reporting
  • Monitor project budgets, subcontractor costs, purchase orders, and billing structures
  • Manage AIA billing processes and related documentation
  • Oversee payroll coordination, labor allocations, reporting accuracy, and payroll compliance
  • Collaborate with project managers, operations teams, HR, and leadership to improve workflows and financial controls
  • Support implementation and optimization of construction management and accounting systems including Procore, QuickBooks, and payroll platforms
  • Supervise accounting personnel and promote operational accountability across departments

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or financial management experience within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of construction job costing, WIP reporting, AIA billing, payroll oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and AP/AR functions
  • Experience with Procore, QuickBooks, payroll systems, and financial reporting tools
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities
  • Experience within luxury residential construction preferred
  • Multi-entity accounting experience preferred
  • CPA or advanced accounting certification preferred but not required
