Industrial Automation Control Panel Builder
Overview
Immediate opening for a skilled Industrial Automation Control Panel Builder to join a growing, project-driven engineering and fabrication team in Marietta, GA. This is a hands-on role where craftsmanship, precision, and technical expertise come together to build high-quality industrial control panels used across a variety of industries.
You will play a key role on the shop floor, fabricating and wiring panels from detailed electrical drawings while ensuring compliance with UL and NEC standards. Location: Marietta, GA (30066)
Pay Rate: $27 $30/hour (potential flexibility for top candidates)
Schedule: Monday Thursday, 6:00 AM 4:30 PM (4x10s)
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, wire, and test industrial automation control panels from start to finish
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings (CAD-based)
- Perform point-to-point wiring and follow elementary diagrams with precision
- Execute mechanical panel builds including backplate layout, drilling, tapping, and component mounting
- Conduct quality control inspections, testing, and documentation to meet UL508A and NEC standards
- Track and manage incoming materials and project components
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, project managers, and customers to resolve technical issues
- Maintain shop organization, supplies, and project inventory
- Ensure all work meets internal standards, client specifications, and safety requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve wiring or component issues during panel build and testing
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 510 years of experience building and wiring industrial automation control panels
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and CAD layouts (design not required)
- Hands-on experience with:
- PLC panels and industrial I/O systems
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Motor controls and automation components
- Strong knowledge of electrical components including breakers, disconnects, relays, timers, contactors, and overloads
- Thorough understanding of UL508A and NEC standards
- Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for panel fabrication
- Strong understanding of industrial circuits and automation electronics
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and safe work practices
- High attention to detail with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
Preferred Skills
- Experience with UL panel certification processes and inspections
- Background working in a project-based or custom panel shop environment
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting
