Contract Events Assistant
The City of College Park is seeking an energetic and dependable Contract Events Assistant to support a variety of community events throughout the year.
This contracted position will assist with event setup and breakdown, activities, games, giveaways, promotional outreach, inventory, and general event support. Schedules vary based on department needs.
Required Event Availability
- Lunar New Year Event (February)
- Annual Egg Hunt (March/April)
- Spring Street Fair (May)
- Friday Night Live (June-August)
- Neighborhood Game Nights (July-August)
- Latin Heritage Event (September)
- College Park Day (October)
- Winter Wonderland (December)
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and break down event equipment, including tables, chairs, tents, signage, and activity areas.
- Assist with event activities, games, giveaways, and attendee engagement.
- Distribute promotional materials at events and throughout the City.
- Deliver flyers, signs, and other marketing materials to local schools and businesses.
- Organize, pack, transport, and track event supplies and inventory.
- Provide excellent customer service and interact professionally with residents, vendors, and event staff.
- Support events in fast-paced environments and around large crowds.
- Perform additional event and office support duties as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Friendly, reliable, and team-oriented.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting to 30 pounds.
- Able to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be available evenings and weekends
Compensation & Hours
- $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Typical Hours: 5-10 hours per month, with additional hours available during event seasons and special projects.
- This position does not include benefits.
