Job Title: Contract Coordinator

Job Description

The Contract Coordinator oversees contractors and vendors on renewable energy construction projects, with a primary focus on wind turbine restoration activities. This role supports the overall management of assigned projects to ensure work is completed safely, within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with design and industry standards. The Contract Coordinator works on site full time, coordinating field activities, monitoring contractor performance, and serving as a key liaison between vendors, project management, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contractors and vendors performing construction and restoration work at renewable energy sites, with a focus on wind turbine projects.
  • Assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on assigned projects and take action to address issues.
  • Participate in walk downs of planned work and validate acceptance of completed work against design requirements and industry standards.
  • Review contractor payment requests and confirm that completed work aligns with agreed scope and quality expectations.
  • Verify constructability of planned work, ensure proper resource allocation, assess field status, and resolve field issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate project activities with vendors, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local community officials, and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in scope control, budget oversight, scheduling, performance reporting, and management of work-in-progress.
  • Interface with landowners, local regulators, and state agencies to support project activities and maintain positive relationships.
  • Reinforce expectations related to safety, procedure compliance, lessons learned, corrective actions, and appropriate work behaviors for employees and contractor staff.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities involving safety programs, engineering, construction, budgeting, analytics, and contract administration.
  • Interface with the project's designated management committee to provide updates, escalate issues, and support decision-making.
  • Remain on site whenever vendors or contractors are working on wind towers or related field activities.
  • Support restoration activities following catastrophic wind turbine failures, including tower cleanup, foundation inspections, and recommissioning with replacement hardware.
  • Oversee and monitor field work such as excavation, electrical bypass, demolition, tower erection, hot work (welding, cutting, etc.), heavy machinery operations (diggers, excavators, cranes), and material handling.
  • Ensure that all field work is performed safely, within project specifications, and in accordance with industry standard practices.
  • Help maintain project schedules by coordinating with vendor teams and the project manager to keep tasks aligned with the overall timeline.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support successful project execution.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction within the utility sector, preferably involving renewable energy projects such as wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission, or substations.
  • Demonstrated experience in contractor oversight and on-site supervision of field activities.
  • Knowledge of construction management principles, including budget oversight, scheduling, and scope control.
  • Ability to assess and manage safety performance, including risk management, risk assessment, and enforcement of safety procedures such as lockout/tagout.
  • Familiarity with restoration activities related to wind turbines, including tower cleanup, foundation inspection, and tower recommissioning.
  • Experience overseeing field operations such as excavation, electrical bypass, demolition, tower erection, hot work, heavy equipment use, and material handling with environmental considerations.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, project managers, regulators, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong reporting skills to support performance reporting and status updates.
  • Willingness and ability to be on site 100% of the time whenever field activities are in progress.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including 10-hour days and six days per week, as required by project needs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to and remain at remote project sites for the duration of field activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in wind, solar, BESS, transmission, substation, or battery projects.
  • Experience using project scheduling tools such as Primavera.
  • Exposure to or familiarity with project management methodologies and certifications such as PMP.
  • Experience with safety programs and procedures, including lockout/tagout and hot work permitting.
  • Experience working on large-scale utility or renewable energy projects.
  • Ability to interpret design requirements and industry standards for construction and restoration work.

Work Environment

This role is based on site at renewable energy facilities, primarily at wind projects undergoing construction, restoration, or recommissioning. The Contract Coordinator works in a field environment around heavy machinery such as diggers, excavators, and cranes, and around activities including excavation, electrical work, demolition, welding, cutting, and tower erection. The position requires being physically present on site 100% of the time whenever field activities are in progress. Typical work hours are 10-hour days, six days per week, with overtime compensated at a premium rate. The work involves close coordination with multiple vendor teams, project management, engineering, safety personnel, and regulatory stakeholders. Safety is a central focus, and the environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety procedures, industry standards, and environmental protections, including spill prevention and proper material handling. Travel to remote sites is required, and the role is best suited to individuals comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions and around active construction operations.
