Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking an undergraduate Content Marketing Intern (Unpaid) to support DMU's strategic digital presence and execution across social platforms. This role is ideal for students interested in social media, digital content creation and storytelling - particularly within higher education and health care. The intern will contribute to digital storytelling efforts that elevate awareness of DMU's academic programs, campus experience, community impact and institutional brand, while working closely with the Marketing and Communications team to support broader communications goals. The position is 4-6 hours per week or determined by student's program requirements. The position is on-site and is eligible for academic credit, as the position is unpaid.

What you'll do:

Assist with day-to-day execution of digital marketing across web, email, social media and advertising channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube videos) and others. Assist in the creation of engaging captions, short-form videos and Stories. Support content planning and scheduling using social media and marketing management tools. Attend campus events to capture photos and videos for real-time or future content. Collaborate with DMU's Marketing and Communications team on campaigns and projects. Other duties may be assigned.

What we are looking for:

Candidates must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship. Overall cumulative minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) required. Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, English/Writing, Media/PR/Journalism, Business Administration, Advertising, Graphic Design or a related field. Have completed a minimum of 9 credits hours in major area of study. Previous internship or coursework experience in marketing, communications or a related area is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn) and an understanding of current digital marketing trends. Self-motivated, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
