BLD PWR (Build Power) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose work focuses on engaging pop culture, education, and activism to build a community of storytellers and activists committed to advancing radical social change. BLD PWR partners with grassroots organizations and works across various social justice movements, including gender, racial, immigration, economic, and environmental justice.
BLD PWR aims to disrupt systemic oppression, combat state violence, and center wellness for marginalized communities. Position Overview
Our growing team is in search of a passionate, experienced, and highly effective Content, Graphics, and Social Media (CGS) Manager. At BLD PWR, our mission and impact are inextricably linked with our programs and production team - we reach communities, hearts, and minds by using our social media and curated events. As such, this role is a critical part of our organization's success. The CGS Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of BLD PWR's public facing brand story, ensuring consistency, continuity and growth via tactics including design, storytelling, and brand promotion and strategies. The goal of this position is to ensure the BLD PWR brand is well represented to partners, the public, and constituents in a way that effectively shares and communicates the organization's mission, vision, values, and advances its strategic objectives. This role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders to engage with and capture BLD PWR events/programs and to leverage the footage to deliver cohesive and impactful social media deliverables supporting community/audience engagement. Who We Are Looking For
Our growing team is in search of an experienced self-starter to support all key aspects of our content strategy, ongoing documentation (filming) of our story, archive maintenance and building, and social media execution and graphics. The ideal candidate is a flexible team player with strong organizational skills, prioritizes attention to detail, and is comfortable developing and maintaining systems and processes for filmmaking, content creation and distribution, and graphics design.
This role works across the organization as well as interfacing with partners and vendors, so excellent communication skills are a must. A can-do attitude and ability to adapt to varying work environments and a willingness to tackle any task, big or small will be essential. Knowledge of G:Suite is required.
The candidate will have a sharp business mind and proven ability to strategize and create systems to support BLD PWR's content. This person should have a strong talent for project coordination, follow-up and follow-through. Ultimately, the CGS Manager should be motivated by a desire to optimize productivity and nurture BLD PWR's programming success from inception to completion.

- At least 3-5 years relevant experience and demonstrated success related to the central aspects of the CGS Manager role.
- Experience providing administrative, non-profit management, programming, operations and/or project management support to an organization or initiative of a sizable, complex, and public purpose program or organization.
- Strong understanding of organizational operations, including process efficiency, resource management, and administrative support.
- Proficiency in social media management tools.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
- Experience with CANVA, Photoshop, AI generating and other emerging graphics tools.
- CRM and project management software experience (e.g., Slack, Monday.com, Asana, Microsoft Project), as well as experience in vendor management (maintaining an organized list and relationships with camera operators, editors, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, building and maintaining positive relationships with team members, coalition partners, collaborating organizations, community members, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to foster and maintain a professional, human-centered approach with artists, entertainers, and other creatives without regard to perceived social status or notoriety in the industry.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities simultaneously over time.
- Unwavering commitment to quality of work and attention to detail.
- A commitment to and understanding of social justice movements, particularly those geared towards mental health, sexual health, liberation, abolition, decolonization, and independent art.
- Ability to take initiative, make informed decisions, and provide strategic guidance to the organization while also being able to take feedback from leadership and adjust as needed to align with organizational strategy.
- Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule to include some evenings, weekends, and travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Content producing, tech (esp. social media), and event production background strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in filmmaking and the entertainment industry is preferred.
- Possesses an existing roster of partners, vendors, and contractors who can be leveraged for additional production capacity (videography, sound, editing, etc.).
- Experience with project management and developing internal systems to ensure efficiency.
- Experience successfully cultivating semi-remote and hybrid teams.
- Familiarity with cultural events like Afropunk, Essence Fest, Donors of Color Conference in Houston, etc.
- Familiarity with the Houston, TX and/or Los Angeles, CA areas is a plus!
Key Responsibilities
- Generates, creates, directs, and implements strategies to utilize visual storytelling and social media to support organizational mission and objectives.
- Manages and routes all public facing communication channels for BLD PWR.
- Ensures consistency and quality in communicating BLD PWR vision, mission, and goals to the general public.
- Leads and contributes to creative marketing campaigns through content design and editing.
- Responsible for maintaining visual brand properties (company logo, marketing materials, etc.) or other promotional materials and any redesign processes.
- Manages and executes camera work, audio and visual for BLD PWR content and productions.
- Responsible for website updates and maintenance.
- Contributes graphics for grant reports, media pieces for press, and speeches for keynotes and presentations.
- Organizes, edits, manages, and secures archival production content.
- Maintains contact list of contractors and vendors for content and design support.
- Communicates strategies and results to stakeholders.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Benefits and Perks
Annual salary range: $65,000 - $75,000, depending on qualifications and experience.

Reporting and Location
- This role reports directly to the Programs and Production Director.
- This role is based in Houston, TX or Los Angeles, CA. For those in nearby locations, commuting to one's assigned city regularly (i.e. several times a week) is required.
- Standard BLD PWR hours are M-F, 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. While we prioritize health and care, flexibility in hours will be required to accommodate meetings or deadlines across different time zones. Weekend, evening, and holiday (Juneteenth, Dr. MLK Jr. Day, etc.) hours are required for this role in connection with BLD PWR cultural programming and events.
- Travel will be required for events and to facilitate the launch of future physical spaces.
