Tesla is seeking a highly analytical and innovative Construction Technology Specialist to join our Energy Projects team. This role supports the deployment and installation of key products such as Megapacks, Superchargers, Semi Chargers, and solar projects. Focusing primarily on project controls and AI-driven construction tools, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and standardizing data across our operations. By leveraging data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies, you will provide real-time insights to drive better decision-making and project outcomes in our Self-Perform and subcontractor initiatives.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for construction technology and data visualization who can bridge field operations with advanced analytics to accelerate Teslas mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market analysis, cost benchmarking, and project cost comparisons using data from Self-Perform and subcontractor projects, mirroring the evaluation methods used in our Self-Perform facilities project controls.
  • Convert Excel as-built data, field logs, and reports into standardized Power BI dashboards, enabling real-time visibility and trend analysis across all five regions.
  • Leverage AI agents and automation tools to track employee distance to site automatically, calculate efficiency percentages, flag schedule deviations, and streamline material ordering workflows.
  • Standardize quality, safety, and lessons-learned data into intuitive dashboard views for key trend visibility, supporting proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Research and evaluate emerging construction technologies (e.g., AI, drones, sensors, scheduling software) and lead pilots across the five regions to assess feasibility and impact.
  • Train field teams on new tools and technologies while generating regular reports on efficiency gains, cost savings, and overall project performance metrics.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., PMP, Power BI, or AI-related) preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience in project controls, cost analysis, or construction data management, ideally in renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI, Excel (advanced), and SQL for handling large datasets.
  • Experience with AI/automation tools (e.g., scripting in Python or integration with construction software) is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with construction technologies such as drones, sensors, or scheduling platforms (e.g., Procore, Autodesk BIM 360).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct market benchmarking and cost trend analysis.
  • Excellent communication and training skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including field personnel and regional leads.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to project sites across regions and work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the energy sector, particularly with products like battery storage (Megapacks), EV charging infrastructure (Superchargers, Semi Chargers), or solar installations.
  • Demonstrated success in piloting tech solutions and measuring ROI through efficiency and cost metrics.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and equity package.
  • Comprehensive health benefits and unlimited PTO.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge sustainable energy projects that impact the world.
  • Access to Teslas innovative tools, ongoing training, and a collaborative culture focused on acceleration.
