Position Overview

Responsible for full bid process, including bid advertisement, developing project leads, bid development, subcontractor-vendor solicitation, submittal requirements, project buyouts, cost-revenue analysis, change orders, bid tabs analysis, and assisting in contract administration and project management. Must also be safety-focused with strict adherence to Pike Industries safety policies.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Functions

Perform plan take-offs and be knowledgeable with DOT specifications. Ability to dissect project plans and specifications to determine project critical path, productivity targets, labor, equipment, material, and trucking cost estimates. Estimate construction paving projects in identified market area using company software system. Knowledgeable of Construction Market Segment - municipal market matrix, tons, ASP by municipality, competitor backlog, and capacity, competitor bonding capacity, key paving customer accounts. Prepare and submit cost estimates for review and bid packages to owners. Manage contracts within territory. Bid-Build-Bill Oversee a successful project lifecycle Schedule Build Bill Closeout Coordination of People and Equipment

Participate in resource scheduling for crews, projects, and subcontractors. Work closely with FOB sales team to schedule HMA customers and Pike crews at HMA facilities. Active participation in Company Safety Programs and initiatives. Participate in recruitment of employees. Learn and understand the Companys estimating system, including computer programs, manuals, and forms. Knowledgeable in paving and milling operations and best practices and key performance indicators. Knowledgeable in the rules and regulations of OSHA MUTCD, DOT. Attend weekly toolbox talks throughout the state and conduct them if necessary. Be familiar with and ensure proper and timely completion of equipment, vehicle condition report LMP-68. Work with the Area Managers, Project Managers, and Superintendents on the preparation of Post Mortem on projects for the purpose of learning where costs were underestimated or overestimated and for the identification of improved revenue allocation. Work with the Area Managers, Contract Administrators, Paving Coordinators, Project Managers, Superintendents, and various other individuals to drive consistency in bid preparation, project setup, and cost tracking within the accounting software. Assist Area Managers, Contractor Administrators, Project Managers, and Superintendents on monthly revenue recognition calls as needed. Assist Area Managers with various levels of involvement on DOT projects when applicable. Perform additional tasks assigned.

Adhere to all state and federal regulations if applicable as set forth by the US Department of Transportation, DOT, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, Mine Safety and Health Administration, MSHA, or any other regulatory agency.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education

Experience

Bachelors degree in Civil or Construction Engineering, three to five years industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

General Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents, reports, and company manuals. Ability to write detailed correspondence effectively present information and be able to respond to questions from management staff, customers, and the general public. Ability to recognize problems and put forth reasonable solutions by establishing the facts. Ability to interpret data from reports, projects, specifications, or project plans.

Knowledge, Skill Requirements

Ability to complete necessary mathematical equations. Must demonstrate the ability to use a computer to communicate and analyze data, including but not limited to the use of Outlook, MS Office programs, construction software, and web-based programs. Be familiar with all roles, equipment, and tasks associated with your projects and have the ability and willingness to fill in on any role or task as necessary.
