Location:

This position is with INDOTs Greenfield District.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Develop and execute comprehensive small to medium-sized construction project plans, and methods ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, schedules, and resource allocation.

Oversee day-to-day construction issues and direct the activities of the team of inspectors.

Make task and overtime assignments for highway technicians and project supervisors.

Create and maintain detailed construction project documentation, including contracts, permits, progress reports, pay quantities, and pay estimates on the project.

Attend meetings, workshops, and/or conferences related to construction.

Resolve field issues and coordinate activities between the contractor, agency, and stakeholders.

Communicate with all project stakeholders, including local property owners, government officials, and the public.

Provide guidance and technical expertise to ensure that the project is constructed according to plans, within budgetary constraints, and in compliance with the agency's expectations.

Ensure contractor complies with all State and Federal policies and work practices.

Develop and manage project budgets up to $5 million. , ensuring accountability and cost-effectiveness.

Creates and negotiates change orders, with approval authority.

Prepare documentation related to contractor claims for additional payment.

Monitor project expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.

Proactively address and resolve project-related field issues and coordinate activities between the contractor, agency, and stakeholders, ensuring minimum disruption to project timelines.

Approve or reject the work of contractors and subcontractors on the project.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project efficiency.

Leverage technology and project manager software to streamline project workflows and improve productivity.

Stay current with the industry trends and advancements.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What Youll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Broad knowledge of construction management methods, materials, safety, scheduling, specifications, contract documents, estimating, and cost analysis.
  • Ability to manage projects, with emphasis on cost control, project delivery, and scheduling.
  • Managerial and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of construction regulations and best practices.
  • Knowledge of scheduling, computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), field layout, submittal review, project quantities, material procurement, equipment tracking, and building design and planning.
  • Ability to use and navigate construction management computer applications (i.e. Site Manager).
  • Understanding of the impact of construction on projects and environments.

A degree is not required. However, at least 4+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
