POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Construction Planner serves as the administrative and systems backbone of construction project execution. This role is responsible for translating project manager direction into structured, maintained project data within SAP — ensuring schedules, budgets, resources, and progress are accurately recorded, tracked, and reported throughout the project lifecycle. The Construction Planner operates primarily within SAP and project planning software, managing the integrity of project information so that project managers and stakeholders can make informed decisions in real time.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following essential job functions are performed as a Construction Planner are as follows:
- Serve as the primary SAP user for all construction project activity, including schedule entry and maintenance, budget tracking, cost monitoring, draw schedule management, and resource planning
- Build and maintain detailed project schedules within SAP based on direction provided by the project manager
- Generate and distribute progress reports, schedule updates, and performance metrics from SAP on a regular and ad hoc basis
- Maintain accurate work breakdown structures (WBS) in SAP, ensuring all project components are correctly coded, tracked, and updated as the project evolves
- Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using project planning software in coordination with the project manager
- Identify critical path activities and flag schedule variances for project manager review
- Update schedules to reflect actual project performance and incorporate changes as directed
- Produce regular project performance reports and milestone tracking summaries within SAP for management review
- Monitor project data for accuracy and flag discrepancies, delays, or risks to the project manager
- Support cost control efforts by ensuring schedule data aligns with project budgets in SAP
- Perform other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 or more years of experience in Construction Planning in a fast-paced environment
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- An associate or bachelor's degree in construction project management is preferred
- SAP experience is considered a strong plus
- PMP and previous ERP experience preferred
- Equivalent work experience in manufacturing, logistics and production systems
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Must be familiar with a variety of the fields' concepts, practices, and procedures; must be able to rely on extensive experience, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
DETAILED WAGE INFORMATION
Wage range for this role is between $90,000 - $120,000 plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
