Job Details

CMT Technical Services is seeking an experienced Construction Materials Field Technician to support construction projects throughout the Denver, Colorado area. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys working outdoors, performing field testing, and ensuring construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards.

Compensation and Benefits

• 18-23 hour DOE
• Location: Denver, Colorado
• FLSA Exemption: Non-Exempt
• Schedule: Full-time hours may vary based on project demands

Job Responsibilities

• Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications
• Conduct field tests on materials, including: • Fresh concrete slump • Air temperature • Cylinders • Soil compaction and density testing • Aggregate sampling and observation
• Accurately document test results and complete daily reports and datasheets
• Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, inspectors, and internal teams
• Maintain and safely operate testing equipment in accordance with company procedures
• Support additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 2 years of construction materials testing experience in the field
• Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record and clean MVR
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer reporting tools
• Ability to pass a drug screening and background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on CDOT transportation or public infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of ASTMAASHTO field testing procedures
• Additional certifications beyond minimum requirements
• Positive attitude, strong initiative, and customer-service mindset
• Desire to grow into advanced testing, inspection, or leadership roles at CMT
• Preferred Certifications: • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I • WAQTC In-Place Density Certification • Commonly required for Colorado CDOT projects • WAQTC Embankment & Base ACI Strength Testing Technician • NICET Construction Materials Testing - Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt - Level I or II • Nuclear Gauge Safety Radiation Safety Training
