Compensation: $88,000 $110,000 annually

Position Overview
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee large-scale healthcare construction projects in Wilmington, NC. This role is responsible for providing on-site leadership, managing daily field operations, ensuring schedule adherence, and coordinating all subcontractor and vendor activity.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience managing $10M+ commercial construction projects, has hands-on knowledge of pull planning and the Last Planner System, and excels in fast-paced, safety-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all on-site construction activities and serve as the primary field authority for assigned projects
Champion jobsite safety by implementing and enforcing the Site-Specific Safety Plan
Lead safety meetings, oversee site logistics, and manage incident response and reporting
Develop, maintain, and update the project schedule; ensure schedule integrity and recovery planning
Lead pull planning sessions and manage Last Planner System execution
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors to ensure compliance with contract documents
Oversee site quality assurance and ensure adherence to project specifications
Manage AHJ inspections, third-party inspections, and client walkthroughs
Track daily field activity and produce accurate daily reports
Review submittals, RFIs, and subcontractor invoices
Ensure proper coordination between trades to maintain schedule and quality
Support procurement, material delivery scheduling, and logistics planning
Monitor project progress and report status to project leadership
Ensure compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations
Support commissioning and closeout activities
Promote company standards, culture, and professionalism on-site
Qualifications
5+ years of experience managing large-scale ($10M+) commercial construction projects
Experience in healthcare or higher education construction strongly preferred
Bachelors degree in Construction Management preferred (or equivalent experience in HVAC/Plumbing)
Strong knowledge of pull planning and the Last Planner System
Proficiency in Procore, Primavera, and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent organizational, scheduling, and communication abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Comfortable managing ambiguity and resolving field challenges
