Job Title: Document Control Specialist

Job Description

The Document Control Specialist owns and maintains product data, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering changes, and documentation across the entire product lifecycle. This position serves as the primary administrator of product configuration information within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and effective change control to support manufacturing operations. The role collaborates closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Support to support new products, custom orders, and ongoing product updates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain product configuration data within the ERP/MRP system, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability across all records.
  • Create, manage, and update bills of materials (BOMs) and item master data to support manufacturing operations and product lifecycle requirements.
  • Establish, assign, and maintain part numbering systems to ensure clear identification and control of components and finished goods.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and change management workflows, ensuring timely implementation and proper documentation of all changes.
  • Maintain and control product documentation, including drawings, specifications, and related records, to support configuration management and compliance.
  • Support new product introductions and custom orders by setting up and validating product structures, BOMs, and related configuration data.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Support to gather requirements, resolve data issues, and ensure alignment on product configurations.
  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness in ERP and related systems through rigorous data entry, validation, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Apply change control procedures and product lifecycle management practices to maintain consistent and reliable product data over time.
  • Use tools such as ERP systems, SAP, and Jira to track changes, manage tasks, and support cross-functional coordination.
  • Monitor and support manufacturing operations by providing accurate configuration and BOM information for production processes.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while maintaining extreme attention to detail and high standards of data quality.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams to explain configuration changes, impacts, and implementation timelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support new product introductions and custom orders.
  • Ability to interpret and manage product documentation such as BOMs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Comfort working closely with Sales and Customer Support to align product configurations with customer needs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot data and configuration issues.
  • High level of ownership and accountability for the quality and completeness of product data.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite, Monday through Friday, in a manufacturing environment focused on lighting for vehicles. The facility offers a clean, well-maintained building with a family-like culture that emphasizes collaboration and support across teams. You will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Support, using ERP systems, SAP, Jira, and other tools to manage product data and support production. The environment is fast-paced and manufacturing-driven, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, reliability, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gilbert, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
