As Tesla's Concrete Project Manager, you will own the foundation program that everything else stands on: mass foundations, equipment pedestals, pile caps, grade beams, slabs, embedments, and anchor bolt setting across a greenfield industrial site. You will drive formwork, rebar, concrete placement, curing, and testing from subgrade handoff through steel-ready and equipment-ready foundations, protecting the critical path for structural erection and process area construction. If you know how to sequence pours at industrial scale, hold quality without slowing production, and refuse to let foundations be the reason the schedule slips, this role was built for you.
Own all phases of concrete foundation construction, including mass foundations, equipment foundations, pile caps, pedestals, grade beams, slabs-on-grade, embed plates, and anchor bolt installation from mobilization through curing and turnover
Strategize and select contract strategy and procurement approach that supports accelerated execution on mass scale. Drive pour sequencing and production rates across concurrent foundation workfronts, coordinating formwork, rebar fabrication/placement, batch plant supply, and placement crews to sustain schedule velocity without sacrificing quality
Administer concrete and foundation contracts, manage change orders with discipline, track cost and earned value performance, and protect Tesla's commercial interests at every stage of execution
Develop competitive bid packages for concrete and foundation scopes, lead technical evaluations, and drive contractor selection with a best-value, schedule-aggressive mindset
Coordinate foundation interfaces with civil (subgrade and ground improvement), structural steel, process area project managers, and engineering to ensure embedments, elevations, and tolerances are correct before concrete is placed
Enforce rigorous quality and testing protocols such as mix design compliance, placement and consolidation, curing and thermal control for mass concrete, rebar and embed inspection, and strength testing so foundations are accepted and released for the project to vertical
Communicate foundation status, pour forecasts, risks, and critical path exposure clearly to program leadership, process area project managers, and cross-functional stakeholders
4+ years of project management experience in heavy industrial concrete and foundation construction, with demonstrated ownership of mass foundations, equipment foundations, and large-scale pour programs
Proven experience on projects $50M+ managing third-party concrete contractors and self-perform or hybrid field operations in refinery, chemical, power, or heavy industrial environments
Deep technical knowledge of formwork systems, rebar detailing and placement, concrete mix design and placement methods, curing and thermal control for mass concrete, embed/anchor bolt setting, and ACI quality standards
Expert-level understanding of earned value management, contract administration, and change management on fast-moving capital projects
Civil or structural engineering degree, construction management degree, or equivalent technical experience required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with confidence presenting cost, schedule, and quality status to senior leadership
High energy, self-driven, and relentlessly focused on pour production and schedule performance, solving field problems before they become critical path delays
Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with aggressive delivery goals
