Job Description
This person will be responsible for overseeing the complete project execution process, ensuring both operational and financial success across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. This role drives consistent execution of project processes, builds and develops high-performing teams, and maintains strong customer relationships to support a robust backlog and long-term organizational goals. The position offers the opportunity to work on projects in industrial and manufacturing facilities, healthcare, educational institutions, chip plants, and data centers, contributing to large-scale concrete construction and supporting significant annual revenue. Responsibilities
- Drive financial and operational outcomes across assigned projects to meet or exceed performance targets, proactively addressing challenges to maintain project success.
- Hold project teams accountable to the expectations, structure, and processes defined in the Project Execution Process (PEP), reinforcing execution discipline through regular engagement, coaching, and feedback.
- Promote consistency and continuous improvement across projects by standardizing processes and encouraging best practices in planning and execution.
- Build and maintain high-performing teams by creating a talent plan for the area of focus and developing team members to execute projects with operational excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
- Plan and allocate resources effectively, including manpower, materials, and support functions, to meet project execution goals and maintain schedule and budget commitments.
- Develop and sustain strong customer relationships, ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle and fostering opportunities for repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Provide preconstruction support by offering input on targeted work based on team capabilities, capacity, and timelines.
- Validate estimate details, including project scope, schedule, logistics, and supplier quotes, ensuring alignment with customer needs and profitability objectives.
- Participate in project preparation and customer presentation meetings to support successful project acquisition and clear understanding of project expectations.
- Ensure project teams receive all necessary information for effective planning and execution, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk considerations.
- Validate project plans, including detailed schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies, engaging and utilizing Centers of Excellence (COE) resources as needed.
- Supervise planning meetings to ensure detailed and actionable plans are developed, addressing high-risk items and aligning with project objectives and customer requirements.
- Validate and oversee customer plan presentation (CPP) meetings, ensuring customer expectations are clearly addressed and follow-up actions are documented and communicated.
- Collaborate with project leaders to align project teams and customer teams for smooth coordination and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee project execution to ensure alignment with established plans, taking proactive action to address deviations in safety, quality, schedule, or financial performance.
- Conduct regular project meetings to review safety, quality, schedule, financials, manpower, and customer satisfaction, ensuring issues are identified and resolved promptly.
- Monitor cash flow, insurance claims, and financial projections, ensuring that risks are identified early and mitigation strategies are implemented effectively.
- Supervise monthly financial reviews, validating projections, analyzing variances, and discussing outcomes and corrective actions with leadership.
- Present project financials clearly and transparently to leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommended actions to improve performance.
- Develop and execute talent development plans for the project team, including mentoring project engineers and interns to support their professional growth.
- Oversee the onboarding and integration of new team members, ensuring they understand organizational goals, project requirements, and standard processes.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all projects and teams.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction project management.
- Proven ability to manage construction projects with values exceeding $1 million.
- General knowledge of construction principles and practices, including preconstruction, estimation, and project execution.
- Hands-on experience in concrete construction and broader construction management activities.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel for documentation, reporting, and analysis.
- Bachelor"s degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred.
- Experience in commercial construction, industrial construction, and concrete construction across diverse sectors such as industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, healthcare, educational institutions, chip plants, and data centers.
- Experience providing preconstruction support, including estimation, scope validation, logistics planning, and supplier coordination.
- Ability to interpret and validate detailed estimates, schedules, and project logistics to ensure alignment with customer expectations and profitability goals.
- Experience working with structured project execution processes and frameworks such as a Project Execution Process (PEP).
