The Computing Youth Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in expanding computer science (CS) and information technology education for elementary and junior high school students. This position acts as a bridge between educators, students, and the computing field by developing curriculum, supporting teachers, and coordinating engaging tech events to inspire future computer scientists, software developers, and technologists. The coordinator is an active participant in introducing coding and computational thinking within local K-12 schools.

Job Duties
These are the job duties for required of the position.
Percentage of time 40 Responsibility/Duty
Work closely with school administrators and teachers to develop and build age-appropriate CS and information technology curriculum specifically for elementary and junior high levels. This includes the direct instruction of CS, coding, and computing to students.
Percentage of time 20 Responsibility/Duty
Provide ongoing professional development and coaching to elementary teachers to help them integrate computing into their classrooms.
Percentage of time 10 Responsibility/Duty
Plan and coordinate School District STEM camps and other tech events. Promote programming and general computing through workshops, demonstrations, articles, and presentations.
Percentage of time 10 Responsibility/Duty
Participate in K-12 Professional Learning Community (PLC) groups and applicable computing committees. Collaborate with secondary and college instructors to ensure vertical articulation of the curriculum.
Percentage of time 10 Responsibility/Duty
Participate in department functions that promote the computer science and information technology programs and Sheridan College to prospective students, parents and other interested parties.
Percentage of time 10 Responsibility/Duty
Committee work and other institutional responsibilities.
