About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Compulsory Deductions Assistant to support payroll operations related to court-ordered and legally mandated employee deductions.
In this role, you'll help ensure the accurate processing and management of garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, bankruptcies, and other payroll deductions while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
You'll work closely with Payroll, Human Resources, employees, and external agencies to help ensure all deductions are handled accurately, confidentially, and on time.
What You'll Do
Process and maintain employee compulsory deductions including garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and bankruptcies
Review legal and court documentation to ensure deductions are entered and processed accurately
Monitor deduction balances, payment schedules, and expiration dates
Prepare and remit payments to courts, agencies, and third-party vendors
Research and resolve deduction discrepancies and employee inquiries
Maintain detailed and confidential payroll deduction records
Assist with payroll audits and reporting related to compulsory deductions
Collaborate with Payroll, HR, Accounting, and Legal teams to ensure compliance and accuracy
Support process improvements and system updates related to payroll deductions
Ideal Candidate
1-3 years of payroll, accounting, administrative, or related experience preferred
Experience with payroll systems or HRIS platforms preferred
Knowledge of payroll deductions, garnishments, or payroll processing preferred
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Ability to manage confidential information professionally and responsibly
Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field a plus.
