About the Role
We're looking for a detail oriented Compulsory Deductions Assistant to join our Payroll team! In this role, you'll help ensure the accurate processing and administration of court ordered and legally mandated payroll deductions, including wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, bankruptcies, and other required deductions.
You'll work closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, Legal, employees, and external agencies to ensure all deductions are processed accurately, remitted on time, and maintained in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

What You'll Do
- Process and maintain employee garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, bankruptcies, and other compulsory deductions
- Review court orders and legal documentation to ensure accurate setup and compliance
- Monitor deduction balances, payment schedules, and expiration dates
- Prepare and remit payments to courts, agencies, and third party vendors
- Research and resolve deduction discrepancies, employee concerns, and agency inquiries
- Maintain detailed records and documentation related to deduction activity
- Assist with payroll audits and provide supporting reports and documentation
- Generate reports and reconcile deduction accounts to ensure accuracy
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll deductions
- Communicate professionally with courts, attorneys, agencies, and vendors
- Partner with Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, and Legal teams to support compliance and operational excellence
- Assist with process improvements, system updates, testing, and documentation
Ideal Candidate
- 1 to 3 years of payroll, accounting, administrative, or related experience preferred
- Experience with payroll systems or HRIS platforms preferred
- Knowledge of garnishments, payroll deductions, or payroll processing is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
