PGS Worldwide is seeking a Composite Technician in Phoenix, AZ for a contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Composite Technician will perform fabrication and assembly work using composite materials such as fibrous materials, epoxy, plastics, ceramics, alloys, foam, and laminated materials. This role supports composite subassemblies, armor panel assemblies, and aircraft seat cushion component assembly using hand tools, power tools, cutting, trimming, grinding, bonding, and related production processes.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a production assembly environment, technical schooling in a related area, or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and education.
  • Ability to work with composite materials, including fibrous materials, epoxy, plastics, ceramics, alloys, foam, and laminated materials.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric power tools, and mechanical processes.
  • Ability to perform cutting, trimming, grinding, bonding, and assembly work.
  • Ability to read work instructions, work orders, templates, shop instructions, and illustrations.
  • Ability to apply work order information accurately to assigned tasks.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments, scales, and calipers.
  • Ability to apply and mix release agents, sealants, solvents, adhesives, and resins on a daily basis.
  • Ability to pass a respirator physical test.
  • Ability to stand for 10-hour shifts.
  • Ability to move, pull, lift, and horizontally transfer product weighing up to 40 pounds unaided.
  • Ability to use both hands for manipulating, handling, and constructing composite assemblies.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work in a moderate to fast-paced, repetitive production environment.
  • Ability to adapt to various projects.
  • Ability to follow company safety policies and procedures.

Preferred Skills

  • Technical institute certification or degree.
  • Experience with composite fabrication, armor panel manufacturing, aircraft seat cushion assembly, bonding, foam cutting, laminated materials, trimming, grinding, resin handling, sealants, adhesives, shop instructions, and production quality requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Fabricate and assemble composite materials into simple and complex subassemblies.
  • Support armor panel assembly and related composite manufacturing work.
  • Cut, trim, grind, bond, and assemble composite materials using hand and power tools.
  • Apply and mix release agents, sealants, solvents, adhesives, and resins.
  • Work from work orders, templates, shop instructions, and illustrations.
  • Use measuring instruments, scales, and calipers to verify work.
  • Maintain accuracy, quality, and production pace within assigned workspace and time requirements.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with company safety policies.
  • Support aircraft seat cushion component assembly, including bonding, cutting, and grinding foam, plastics, and laminated materials.
  • Perform other related fabrication and assembly tasks as assigned.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 4/40 schedule.
  • 5:00 AM–3:30 PM.
  • Overtime expected as needed.

Pay

  • $20.06/hour
