General Job Information
JOB SUMMARY
This position is located in the Department of Corrections (DOC), Education Department (ED). The incumbent in this role is responsible for planning, organizing, and conducting audits/investigations to enforce compliance of education offerings (secondary, post-secondary, and career technical education) and program objectives through implemented data collection systems, auditing, and standardized reporting. In addition, ensures appropriate statistical data is collected, analyzed, and drafted into special reports and statistical charts to provide technical support and workflow implementation for the ED.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Advises on compliance issues related to special education services. Coordinates activities with the special education contractors to ensure full compliance with all aspects of Individuals with a Disability Act (IDEA) and Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Plans and provides ongoing compliance reviews with our Office of Internal Compliance and Audits (OICCA) to enhance program compliance objectives. Reviews, collects, correlates, and analyzes information to identify or to substantiate compliance violations. Identifies trends or indicators of illegal, improper, or non-compliant activities from various sources.
Prepares compliance audit data by compiling and analyzing internal and external information. Determines the methods, approach, and procedures necessary to obtain the required information. Analyzes and interprets audit and investigative report findings. Draws valid conclusions and prepares reports on problematic matters. Composes reports, statistical information, correspondence, and guidelines, and creates graphic representations of information for the ED reports
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. To be creditable, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the line of progression.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed in a correctional facility; however, much of the work is performed in an office setting.

Tour of Duty: Monday- Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
Pay Plan, Series, and Grade: CS-1801-11

Duration of Appointment: Career Service-Term Appt.
Collective Bargaining Unit: This position is not covered under a collective bargaining agreement.
Position Designation: The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability - Safety Sensitive. This position is subject to mandatory pre-employment and periodic Criminal Background Checks. This position is also subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing.
TB test will be required prior to entry on duty.
Residency Requirement: Applicants claiming "Residency Preference" will be required to maintain residency in the District of Columbia for a minimum of seven (7) years. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of employment.
