Summary/Objective 

The Compliance Analyst, Regulatory supports ACA’s Compliance Program and reports to the Manager, Compliance. The role is responsible for leading the regulatory change management lifecycle, including monitoring and researching new laws and regulations, assessing applicability and business impact, coordinating implementation activities, and supporting ongoing compliance efforts.

Serving as the primary point of contact for regulatory change management, the Compliance Analyst is a centralized resource for regulatory developments and internal compliance inquiries.  The role partners closely with Compliance, Legal, and business stakeholders.

Regulatory Change Management

  • Proactively research and monitor changes to laws, evaluate applicability of each law change in partnership with assigned counsel, partner on implementing regulations and guidelines applicable to ACA’s licenses and business operations (auto-finance, privacy, artificial intelligence); evaluate any such changes and summarize new control requirements.
  • Monitor news and trade publications and identify new bills being put forward by state and federal regulators and potential impact on ACA to determine if ACA wants to engage with AFSA or other trade associations.
  • Work cross-functionally with Legal and Business partners to evaluate the changes and implement any required controls to comply with pertinent changes in regulations. Provide ongoing clarification and guidance during the implementation phase, including responding to business questions and refining requirements as needed.
  • Communicate regulatory changes and associated requirements to impacted business stakeholders in a structured and understandable format.
  • Evaluate state laws for new lines of business to identify operational controls applicable to new business lines for attorney and Compliance review.
  • Facilitate discussions to evaluate potential control solutions and ensure alignment with regulatory intent.
  • Partner with the Compliance Monitoring team to translate regulatory requirements and implemented controls into monitoring activities in alignment with ACA’s risk tolerance and monitoring program.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of regulatory research, applicability determinations, business impact assessments, and implementation decisions.

Compliance Analysis and Advisory Support  

  • Support administration of Compliance related inboxes by intaking, tracking and routing requests to appropriate stakeholders
  • Support the preparation of responses to compliance-related inquiries from stakeholders
  • Conduct initial research and factual analysis related to regulatory and compliance questions, escalating complex matters to appropriate parties for visibility, input and oversight
  • Interface and communicate with other departments to obtain/clarify facts relating to incoming requests and follow up with the business, as needed 
  • Support ACA’s regulatory examination process including reviewing exam requests, requesting information from the business, and reviewing information that is provided.
  • Work closely with the business to communicate/discuss examination findings and facilitate any required remediation.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of applicable experience 
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong sense of initiative and organization, and excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external parties
  • Proficient in MS office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Windows, internet navigation, and an ability to learn new systems  
  • Ability to independently research and interpret complex regulatory frameworks
  • Strong ability to determine how laws apply within a specific business model (auto finance is a plus)
  • Operates with limited oversight and drives work forward proactively
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously with clear tracking and accountability
  • Ability to influence without authority and work effectively across Legal, Compliance, and Operational teams
  • Experience managing regulatory change initiatives or cross-functional implementation efforts preferred
  • Paralegal certificate is a plus

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment like computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday, with some schedule variations as needed.

Travel
