Overview:

Performs accurate compilation and processing of planimetric and topographic features using softcopy photogrammetric systems. This role supports the creation of high‑quality geospatial products by collecting, validating, and documenting terrain and feature data in accordance with established standards and project requirements to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Direction

  • Operates as an individual technical contributor with guidance from senior technicians, supervisors, or project leads.
  • Demonstrates accountability for assigned tasks, data accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Actively contributes to a collaborative production environment and seeks feedback to build technical proficiency.

 

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Compile planimetric and topographic features using advanced stereo imagery techniques to accurately represent physical features and terrain.
  • Generate contours and support creation of digital terrain models (DTMs) in accordance with project specifications.
  • Integrate multiple geospatial data sources to enhance completeness and accuracy of compiled datasets.
  • Follow established checklists, work instructions, and project-specific guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Verify compiled data against control points and known parameters to ensure data integrity.
  • Review source materials at project initiation, including boundaries, stereo imagery pairs, and control information.
  • Support efficient use of software tools and system resources to meet project timelines and productivity expectations.

 

Do the Work

  • Perform softcopy compilation tasks within defined accuracy and quality thresholds.
  • Conduct routine quality checks and identify discrepancies or anomalies in compiled data.
  • Maintain detailed project logs, documenting status, progress, and any issues requiring escalation.
  • Update tracking systems to reflect workflow status, production milestones, and data accuracy indicators.
  • Communicate task status, questions, or issues promptly to project leads or supervisors.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company standards.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in geomatics, geospatial technology, surveying, GIS, photogrammetry, or related field preferred.
  • Entry level position. 0-2 years of experience in 3D compilation, photogrammetry, or geospatial mapping production a plus.
  • Working experience with stereo compilation and 3D mapping software (e.g., SOCET GXP, Summit Evolution, DAT/EM, Inpho, or similar).
  • Experience with CAD and/or GIS platforms (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS) preferred.
  • Familiarity with LiDAR datasets and surface modeling concepts preferred.
  • Understanding of map accuracy standards and geospatial specifications.
  • Proficient with standard office and production software tools.
  • Strong computer and data management skills.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
  • Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
