Client Overview:
Our client is a prestigious university in the Bronx looking for a Compensation Specialist to join their HR team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr - $40/hr
$80k - $90k once permanent

Position Overview:
The Compensation Specialist will work on compensation projects, create job descriptions, and work with hiring managers. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in HR or analytics and has specialized in compensation for a year or more. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities of the Compensation Specialist:
  • Leads monitoring and refinement of the salary frameworks to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Analyzes varied compensation issues, develops solutions, and implements process improvements to enhance the delivery of pay programs.
  • Conducts market benchmarking, interpreting external data trends to provide formal recommendations for salary band adjustments.
  • Communicates cross-functionally to explain complex grading recommendations and compensation policies, and provides guidance on developing and maintaining job descriptions.
  • Provides training to Hiring Managers on compensation frameworks and job architecture standards.
  • Maintains the university's job description database and organizational structure.
  • Evaluates jobs to determine appropriate salary ranges using relevant market survey data and considering internal equity; reviews and recommends salary placements for new hires.
Required Experience/Skills for the Compensation Specialist:
  • Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in compensation, HRIS, or a related analytical field.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and strong analytical skills.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
