The Company Officer plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive, supportive, and leadership-driven environment within the highly structured culture of the Regiment of Cadets. As a key member of the Student Services division, the Company Officer serves as a vital link between cadets and campus resources and ensures alignment with Academy expectations, policies, and procedures. Core responsibilities include student supervision and development, crisis response and student support, student conduct and discipline, community building within the residential and regimental environment, and oversight of assigned residence hall facilities. The Company Officer provides oversight of assigned residence halls and is responsible for the consistent administration and enforcement of Academy policies, residential standards, and the provisions outlined in the Regimental Manual. Working collaboratively with Student Services and other campus partners, the Company Officer helps connect cadets with appropriate resources while maintaining the discipline, structure, and standards necessary to support a successful cadet experience. As a uniformed member of the Regiment, the Company Officer is expected to model the Academy's customs, traditions, and professional standards, reinforcing the values and expectations of a regimented campus environment through daily leadership and example. This is an APA unit, fully benefit positions. Expected hours are Monday-Friday from 0700-1500.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Company Officer, overseeing the daily operations of a regimented residence hall for approximately 200 cadets spanning first-year through senior-year students.
- Participate in the annual Sea Term as assigned. Sea Term is a 52-day training ship deployment (typically early January to mid-February). Responsibilities mirror onshore duties, including on-call support, cadet supervision, Underway shift work, In-port Staff Duty Officer shifts and leadership development in a regimented, high-expectation environment.
- Utilize Academy technology and resources (ErezLife and Maxient) to uphold and enforce policies and procedures related to cadet housing, safety, and community standards, maintaining order and discipline in alignment with the Academy's structured environment.
- Conduct regular inspections of cadet rooms and provide constructive guidance to ensure compliance with uniform and room inspection standards, supporting cadets in meeting the rigorous expectations of both academic and regimental responsibilities.
- Promote and facilitate access to appropriate mental health and wellness resources, maintaining accurate documentation while advocating for cadet well-being and success within the Academy's disciplined framework.
- Actively participate in morning formation (Monday-Friday) at 7:15 AM during the academic year, reinforcing cadet engagement, accountability, and adherence to regimental structure.
- Assist with providing interventions for cadets with academic challenges including attendance, mid-term deficiencies, etc. by referring to academic support.
- Serve in an on-call, overnight capacity, one night per week throughout the academic year, residing in the assigned staff suite while on duty to enforce campus housing and regimental policies.
- Participate in MMA's 3 week summer Orientation Program during the month of August.
- Enforce the Academy's code of conduct policies with fairness and transparency, conducting company-level hearings and investigations, and referring cases as necessary to the class I or honor board, maintaining the discipline expected within the Regiment of Cadets.
- Assist with all Regiment of Cadet ceremonies and obligations (Open Houses and Accepted Students Day) as assigned by the Commandant during weekdays and weekends.
- Comply with the Academy's pre-employment and random drug testing program in accordance with institutional policies, upholding a safe and professional environment within Student Services.
- Serve as a Clery Act-mandated reporter, ensuring adherence to federal regulations regarding campus safety, equity, and crime reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Commandant and/or Vice President for Student Services, supporting the mission of the Academy with integrity, discipline, and a commitment to student success within a regimented campus structure.
