JOB SUMMARY: The Commuter Coordinator builds programming, develops mentoring environments, strengthens relationships, and fosters community among non-residential undergrad students of Evangel University.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends campus activities and events featuring commuter students to show support, model godly adulthood, and foster relationships.
  • Responsible for supporting the restorative discipline standard for the Code of Conduct violations in coordination with members of the Community Life team and the VPSD. Participates in leading a sustainable on-campus mentoring program.
  • Maintains appropriate records of student interactions including violations of the Code of Conduct and corrective measures, chapel attendance, leadership opportunities, and campus involvement.
  • Provides accountability to commuter students and participates in the Community Life Accountability Panel as requested
  • Participates in new student orientation week to meet commuter students and inform them of formational opportunities and essential student policies.
  • Reinforces compliance with relevant policies, procedures, professional standards, laws and national trends as applicable.
  • Provides community and educational events for commuters.
  • Tracks departmental finances and accounting including income and expenses to steward the student fees in accordance with the vision of Community Life
  • Handles Chapel and Housing compliance in alignment with the standards and policies of the university and promotes participation in the campus experience whenever possible.
  • Serves as the Advisor for the Commuter Council, comprised of a president, senator, sports representative, and members at large.
  • Produces the annual EDGAR Part 86 report.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highly fluent in modern office technology, use of Microsoft Copilot, Evangel Connect is required for data processing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external constituents
  • Strong communication skills and ability to motivate students
  • Strongly committed to the educational mission and identity of Evangel University as a Christian University affiliated with the General Council of the Assemblies of God

EQUIPMENT USED

Personal computer, various software programs in the Microsoft Suite.

SCHEDULE:

As a general rule, this position is active on campus in late afternoon and early evening or whenever commuter students are present and active on campus. Some nights and weekends will be required.

This individual will share an office space with an employee who works during the morning.
